Tile done right in Eagan, MN

Tile is about as permanent as a floor gets, and it is easy to do poorly. Most of the quality is hidden: a flat, stable base, full mortar coverage, and a thoughtful layout. In Minnesota there is another factor, because freeze-thaw swings and shifting soils put stress on slabs and framing. TPM Flooring prepares each floor with that in mind, using uncoupling membranes in wet or flex-prone areas.

We install ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and mosaic tile for floors, showers, backsplashes, and commercial spaces across the Twin Cities. American Olean is one of the tile lines we trust.

Where tile earns its keep

Tile suits any room that sees water, heat, or a lot of foot traffic, which describes most Minnesota entries from November through April.

  • Bathrooms and showers - waterproof when built with a proper membrane system
  • Kitchens - tolerates heat, spills, and heavy use
  • Entries and mudrooms - copes with salt, grit, and wet boots
  • Heated floors - tile conducts radiant heat very well, a real perk in a cold climate
  • Commercial spaces - durable surfaces for restaurants, offices, and retail

What happens before the first tile goes down

We start by checking the floor for movement, moisture, and flatness, and we correct problems first. Mortar is matched to tile size, large pieces are back-buttered for solid contact, and leveling clips keep neighboring edges even. Showers get a full waterproofing system and a properly sloped base.

We finish with sealed grout, or epoxy grout if you prefer, followed by a final walk-through with you. Our work carries a 1-year installation warranty. Want to see what others thought? Visit our reviews.

Tile Flooring — your questions answered

A typical room takes a few days: demo and prep, setting, then grouting and sealing. Showers and large-format layouts can add a day or two.

Over plywood and over radiant heat we strongly suggest one, because it helps protect tile and grout from movement. On a sound concrete slab it is optional, though still smart in wet areas.

Occasionally, if it is firmly bonded and level and the new height will not cause door or appliance clearance problems. Otherwise we remove it and start fresh.

Cement grout can stain if left unsealed, so we seal it. Epoxy grout is an upgrade that resists stains and is worth considering for showers. You can ask about it when you book an estimate.

Keep exploring.
