Hardwood flooring in Eagan, MN
Wood floors do well in Minnesota when they are chosen and installed with our climate in mind. Winter air gets very dry, summers get humid, and boards move a little as the seasons turn. TPM Flooring installs solid and engineered hardwood with that swing in mind.
Tom Michaud and the TPM crew can walk you through species, widths, and finishes with samples from lines such as Kahrs, Mannington, Shaw, and Mohawk, right in your own home. Ready to begin? Ask for a free estimate.

Solid or engineered
Both are real wood. The right pick depends on your subfloor, how much humidity your home sees, and where in the house the floor is going.
- Solid hardwood - full-thickness wood nailed over a wood subfloor, and it can be sanded and refinished many times. See our solid hardwood page.
- Engineered hardwood - a real-wood surface over a stable layered core, a good match for concrete, basements, and radiant heat. See our engineered hardwood page.
- Wider planks - a current look available in both builds.
- Patterns like herringbone and chevron - possible in either construction.

Species and color
Oak is the everyday favorite here for good reason. It is hard, takes stain well, and suits both older and newer homes. Maple gives a smoother, more even grain, hickory brings strong character, and walnut adds a rich, deep tone.
Stain colors run from natural and light to gray-toned and espresso. We bring sample boards to your home so you can see them next to your walls, trim, and window light.

Installation and refinishing
We choose nail-down, glue-down, or floating methods based on your subfloor. Jobs include checking moisture, preparing the surface, handling baseboards, and hauling away the old floor. If your existing boards are still sound, our hardwood refinishing work can bring them back to life instead.

Hardwood Flooring — your questions answered
Many homes take a few days, with more time if sanding and finishing are involved. We will give you a clear schedule at your estimate.
Engineered hardwood is the better fit for most basements and kitchens because it handles humidity shifts well. We do not suggest solid wood below grade. If water is a major worry, take a look at luxury vinyl plank.
Dry heated air pulls moisture out of the boards, so small seasonal gaps can appear and close again by summer. Choosing the right build and keeping indoor humidity steady helps a lot.
We bring samples that match your species and color as closely as possible. For the most even result, we can refinish the old floor at the same time. See our hardwood refinishing page.
