Wood looks that can take a Minnesota winter
Plenty of homeowners want the look of oak without worrying about salt, slush, and pet accidents. Luxury vinyl plank delivers that. It is waterproof, resists scratches, and many patterns look so close to real wood that guests lean down to check. It is also usually cheaper installed than hardwood. One of our Google reviewers mentioned having LVP put in across a main level and kitchen, and it is a very common request around Eagan, MN.
TPM Flooring works with trusted lines such as Shaw, Mohawk, and Mannington. Our mobile showroom brings the sample boards to your home, so you can judge color in your own light.

How to read an LVP spec sheet
A few details tell you most of what you need to know about a plank. We walk you through them in plain language at your estimate.
- Wear layer - the thicker it is, the better it resists scuffs, so heavy-use homes and pets call for more
- Core type - rigid stone-composite cores hide small subfloor flaws, while wood-composite cores feel softer and warmer
- Overall thickness - thicker planks are generally quieter and more forgiving
- Plank width and length - wider planks give a more modern look, narrower ones lean traditional
- Installation method - floating click systems versus glued-down planks

Click or glue-down
A floating click floor goes in quickly and is easier to repair. Glued-down plank feels more solid and works well across large open areas and commercial rooms. We install both and choose based on your subfloor, room size, and how you use the space. If you are comparing materials, you can also look at engineered hardwood or laminate.

Subfloor prep is where the quality is
Plank only looks as good as what it sits on. We flatten high and low spots, address moisture on concrete basements, and use the underlayment the manufacturer calls for. Our crews also handle stair nosings, baseboards, and hauling away your old flooring, and everything is covered by a 1-year installation warranty. Luxury Vinyl Plank — your questions answered
It is one of the better basement floors. It is waterproof, tolerates concrete without the acclimation worries of wood, and feels warmer than tile. We test the slab for moisture first.
It resists scratches well, but nothing is bulletproof. Large dogs and dragged furniture can scuff lower-grade plank, so we recommend a thicker wear layer for those homes.
A well-chosen plank installed over a properly prepared subfloor can serve a household for many years. Wear layer and how you care for it make the biggest difference.
