Question 1

How do I choose the right carpet style for my home?

Accepted Answer

Carpet comes in several constructions - plush, frieze, loop, and sculptured - and in many fibers and colors. Think about who uses the room, whether pets are in the picture, and how much traffic it sees. TPM Flooring brings carpet samples to your home so you can judge texture and color in your own light, and we will help you narrow it down to what fits your lifestyle and budget.

Question 2

Is there a cost for a carpet consultation?

Accepted Answer

No. Our in-home estimates are free, and there is no obligation and no pressure whether or not you hire TPM Flooring. You can [book a free estimate](/free-estimate) on any weekday.

Question 3

Which type of carpet material would you most recommend?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the room. Polyester is naturally stain resistant and soft, and it is often easier on the budget than nylon or wool. Nylon tends to be the most resilient in heavy traffic, and wool is a premium natural option. We will walk through the pros and cons of each against how you actually use the space.

Question 4

What is the pricing structure for your carpet replacement services?

Accepted Answer

Carpet pricing includes more than the carpet itself - there is also padding, prep, and installation. We put it together into one clear estimate for the whole project so you can compare options without surprises.

Question 5

Can you provide a cost estimate for the entire carpet project?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We start by bringing samples to your home so you can see them in your lighting and next to your furnishings. Then we measure, review the details, and give you a written estimate that covers materials, installation, and removal of the old carpet. If you would like help moving furniture, ask us when we schedule.

Question 6

What is the installation timeline for my carpet?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the size of the project, the flooring being removed, and the condition of the subfloor. Many single-room and small projects can be finished in a day, and we will give you a realistic timeline in your estimate.

Question 7

Are there any specific carpet care and maintenance instructions I should follow?

Accepted Answer

Regular vacuuming matters most, especially in a Minnesota winter when salt and grit get tracked in. Many manufacturers also require professional cleaning at set intervals to keep the carpet warranty valid, so check the terms for the line you choose. We will point out the care details for your carpet during selection.

Question 8

Do you offer a warranty on the carpet installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our installation work carries a 1-year warranty. The carpet itself is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which varies by product, and we will explain what applies to your choice.

Question 9

Will you remove and dispose of my old carpet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can remove and haul away your old carpet and padding as part of the project, and we will include that in your estimate. If you need a full tear-out, see our [floor demolition and prep](/floor-demolition-prep) service.

Question 10

How do you handle furniture moving during installation?

Accepted Answer

Ask us about furniture moving when you schedule. We will tell you what we can move and what we need you to clear ahead of time, such as electronics, breakables, and personal items.

Question 11

Is there a specific way I should prepare my home before installation?

Accepted Answer

Clear out small items, fragile things, and electronics, and let us know about pets so they stay safe while the crew works. We will confirm the details when we book your install.

Question 12

What is the process for measuring my space accurately?

Accepted Answer

We measure each room on site, accounting for layout, closets, stairs, and transitions, so the estimate matches what the job actually needs and waste stays low.

Question 13

Are there any additional charges or fees I should be aware of?

Accepted Answer

We aim to put everything in one written estimate. If we find something unexpected, like a damaged subfloor, we will explain it and talk through the options before any work continues.

Question 14

Do you have any eco-friendly or sustainable carpet options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many modern carpet fibers include recycled content, and some lines carry low-emission certifications. Often the greenest choice is a quality carpet that lasts, rather than one that needs replacing early. We can show you options from our mobile showroom.

Question 15

Can you provide carpet samples for me to see and touch before making a decision?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our mobile showroom brings a wide range of samples to your home, so you can feel them, compare them, and even set them on the floor of the room where they will go.

Question 16

What happens if there are unforeseen issues or problems during installation?

Accepted Answer

Older homes and subfloors can hide surprises. If our crew finds a problem, we address it properly rather than cover it up, and we will talk with you about the fix before moving ahead.

Question 17

Are there any discounts or promotions available for carpet installation?

Accepted Answer

Offers change from time to time, so ask when you request your estimate. If you want to spread out the cost, see our [financing options](/financing).

Question 18

How do I schedule an appointment for installation?

Accepted Answer

Call us at (952) 299-6615 or use the form on our [free estimate page](/free-estimate) and we will get back to you to find a time that works.

Question 19

What types of hardwood flooring options do you offer?

Accepted Answer

We install both solid and engineered hardwood in a range of species, finishes, and plank widths, from classic to modern. Learn more on our [hardwood flooring page](/hardwood-flooring), and we will bring samples to your home so you can compare.

Question 20

What are the different wood species available for hardwood flooring?

Accepted Answer

Common choices include oak, maple, hickory, and walnut, among others. Each has its own grain, hardness, and color range, and we will help you match the species to your home and traffic.

Question 21

Can you provide samples of the hardwood flooring options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our mobile showroom brings samples to your home, so you can see how each species and stain looks in your lighting and with your furniture.

Question 22

Do you offer both solid and engineered hardwood flooring options?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer both. Solid hardwood is a single piece of wood that can be refinished many times, while engineered hardwood has a real-wood top layer on a stable core. See the details on our [solid hardwood](/real-solid-hardwood-flooring) and [engineered hardwood](/engineered-hardwood) pages.

Question 23

How do I determine which type of hardwood flooring is best for my specific needs and space?

Accepted Answer

It comes down to the subfloor, moisture conditions, and your budget. Basements and slab-on-grade rooms usually suit engineered products, while upper levels can handle solid wood. We will look at the space and give you a recommendation.

Question 24

What are the differences between solid and engineered hardwood in terms of durability and installation?

Accepted Answer

Solid hardwood offers a long life and can be sanded and refinished multiple times, but it reacts more to humidity and needs a suitable wood subfloor. Engineered hardwood is more dimensionally stable through Minnesota's seasonal swings and can go over more kinds of subfloors. Both can be beautiful and durable when installed correctly.

Question 25

Are there any subfloor requirements or preparations needed before installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The subfloor needs to be flat, dry, and clean, and each manufacturer has its own requirements. We check the subfloor and handle the prep so the installation meets those specs.

Question 26

Do you offer any warranties on your hardwood flooring products and installation?

Accepted Answer

Our installation carries a 1-year warranty. The wood itself and its finish are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which varies by product, and we will explain the terms for the floor you pick.

Question 27

What is the expected lifespan of the hardwood flooring you provide?

Accepted Answer

With proper care, a hardwood floor can last for decades. Solid hardwood can be refinished several times, which extends its life even further, and well-cared-for engineered floors also last a long time.

Question 28

Are there any special maintenance requirements for hardwood floors?

Accepted Answer

Sweep or dry-mop regularly, wipe up spills promptly, and use cleaners made for wood floors. Winter heating can dry the air and open small gaps in hardwood, so a stable indoor humidity level helps.

Question 29

Do you offer eco-friendly or sustainable hardwood flooring options?

Accepted Answer

Many hardwood lines come from responsibly managed forests, and some use low-VOC finishes. Tell us what matters to you and we will show you products that fit.

Question 30

What are the expected lead times for ordering and installing hardwood floors?

Accepted Answer

Lead times depend on the product and whether it is in stock or special order. We will give you a clear timeline when we do your estimate.

Question 31

Are there any potential challenges or issues that may arise during installation?

Accepted Answer

Uneven subfloors, moisture, and older framing can show up once the old floor comes out. If that happens, we explain what we found and the right way to fix it instead of working around it.

Question 32

Can I choose different hardwood flooring styles for different rooms in my home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many homeowners vary the finish or plank width from room to room while keeping a cohesive look. We can help you coordinate the selections. If your existing floors just need new life, see our [hardwood refinishing](/hardwood-refinishing) service.

Question 33

What are the advantages of choosing vinyl flooring over other types of flooring?

Accepted Answer

Luxury vinyl is durable, water resistant, and relatively affordable, which makes it a favorite for busy households. It will not warp from moisture the way wood can, it resists stains better than carpet, and today's wood-look and stone-look designs are very convincing.

Question 34

What vinyl flooring styles does TPM Flooring offer?

Accepted Answer

We install luxury vinyl plank (LVP), luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and sheet vinyl, along with commercial vinyl products. Start with our [luxury vinyl plank](/luxury-vinyl-plank) page to see the options.

Question 35

Do you offer free in-home consultations for vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We bring samples to your home, measure the space, and give you a free estimate with no pressure.

Question 36

What is the expected lifespan of vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the product, where it is installed, and how it is maintained. A thicker wear layer holds up better in busy areas, and luxury vinyl does well in moisture-prone rooms. We will help you choose a product that suits your household.

Question 37

Do you offer a warranty on vinyl flooring installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our installation carries a 1-year warranty, and the vinyl itself is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which varies by product.

Question 38

How does the cost of vinyl flooring compare to other flooring?

Accepted Answer

Vinyl is often more budget-friendly than hardwood and is generally in the same range as many carpet options. Pricing varies by product and thickness, so we will quote your actual project so you can compare.

Question 39

Is vinyl flooring waterproof?

Accepted Answer

Most luxury vinyl plank and tile products are waterproof or highly water resistant, which makes them a good fit for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. Check the specific product, and keep in mind that seams and the subfloor still matter.

Question 40

What is the installation process for vinyl flooring, and how long does it take?

Accepted Answer

We prepare the subfloor, install the vinyl using the method the product calls for - floating, glue-down, or click-lock - then do a final check and clean up. Many rooms can be done in a day.

Question 41

Do you provide professional vinyl flooring installation services?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our experienced crews handle the full installation, from prep to cleanup.

Question 42

Are there any subfloor preparation requirements before installation?

Accepted Answer

The subfloor should be clean, dry, and level. We check it during your estimate and handle any prep before installation so the finished floor lays flat.

Question 43

What type of underlayment is recommended for vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the product. Some planks have underlayment attached and others may need one for comfort or sound reduction. We will recommend what the manufacturer calls for.

Question 44

Can vinyl flooring be installed over existing floors?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. If the existing surface is smooth, flat, and sound, vinyl can often go over it. We will assess the floor during your estimate.

Question 45

How do I clean and maintain my vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

Sweep or vacuum regularly and damp-mop with a cleaner approved for vinyl. Avoid harsh abrasives and follow the manufacturer's care guide.

Question 46

Is vinyl flooring good for homes with pets?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is one of the better choices for pet households thanks to its scratch resistance and easy cleanup. Trimming your pet's nails helps any floor last longer.

Question 47

Are there any safety considerations during vinyl flooring installation?

Accepted Answer

Vinyl installation is low-risk. If glue-down adhesive is used, we recommend good ventilation, keeping pets and small children out of the work area, and giving the floor the settle time the manufacturer specifies.

Question 48

Do you offer financing for vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Financing is available through Synchrony, subject to credit approval. See our [financing page](/financing) for details.

Question 49

What should I do if I experience issues with my vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

Contact us right away. Installation issues are covered under our 1-year installation warranty, and we will help you work through any manufacturer warranty questions.

Question 50

What are the advantages of choosing laminate flooring over other types of flooring?

Accepted Answer

Laminate gives you the look of wood or stone at a friendlier price. It resists scratches, is simple to keep clean, and handles everyday traffic well.

Question 51

What laminate flooring options does TPM Flooring offer in terms of colors and styles?

Accepted Answer

We can show you laminate in many wood-look and stone-look styles, from light oak to deep walnut and modern grays. Our mobile showroom brings samples to your home to compare. See more on our [laminate flooring page](/laminate-flooring).

Question 52

Can you provide samples of different laminate flooring options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. During your free in-home estimate, we bring laminate samples so you can see how they look in your own space before deciding.

Question 53

What is the cost per square foot for laminate flooring installation?

Accepted Answer

Laminate ranges from very budget-friendly to higher-end, so a single per-foot number would not be useful. We give you an estimate for the whole project, including underlayment and installation.

Question 54

Are there any ongoing promotions or discounts available for laminate flooring installation?

Accepted Answer

Offers can change, so ask when you request your estimate. We will let you know about anything that applies to your project.

Question 55

Do you offer free in-home consultations to assess the space and provide recommendations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We come to you, bring samples, take measurements, and give you a written estimate for the whole project - free and without pressure.

Question 56

What is the installation process for laminate flooring, and how long does it typically take?

Accepted Answer

Laminate is typically a click-together plank, so a flat, well-prepared subfloor is key. With proper prep, installation moves along quickly.

Question 57

Are there any specific maintenance requirements for laminate flooring?

Accepted Answer

Sweep or vacuum regularly and use a lightly damp mop with a laminate-safe cleaner. Avoid standing water, and wipe up spills promptly.

Question 58

What is the expected lifespan of laminate flooring?

Accepted Answer

It depends on traffic, care, and the product grade you choose. We will help you select a laminate that suits each room.

Question 59

Do you provide removal and disposal services for existing flooring materials?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can remove and dispose of your old flooring before the new laminate goes in. For larger jobs, see our [floor demolition and prep](/floor-demolition-prep) service.

Question 60

Are there any subfloor preparation requirements before laminate flooring installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The subfloor needs to be flat and dry per the manufacturer's instructions, and our crews check and prepare it before installing.

Question 61

Can you install laminate flooring in areas with high moisture levels, such as bathrooms or kitchens?

Accepted Answer

Standard laminate is moisture resistant but not waterproof, so it suits living areas and bedrooms best. Some waterproof laminate products can work in kitchens, and for bathrooms we may suggest vinyl or tile instead.

Question 62

What type of underlayment is recommended for laminate flooring?

Accepted Answer

Each product has its own underlayment or vapor barrier requirements. We install to the manufacturer's specifications.

Question 63

Are there any special considerations for installing laminate flooring on stairs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, stairs take more precision. We install laminate on stairs and can walk you through the options on our [laminate stairs page](/laminate-stairs).

Question 64

Which types of tile flooring does TPM Flooring offer?

Accepted Answer

We install ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tile, along with mosaics and wood-look and stone-look styles. Browse our [tile flooring page](/tile-flooring) for an overview.
