Floor removal and prep in Eagan, MN

A new floor performs only as well as what it sits on. TPM Flooring takes care of the steps before installation: taking out the old flooring, hauling it away, checking the subfloor, and getting it flat and ready. That keeps your new floor tight, level, and quiet for years.

We remove tile, hardwood, vinyl, carpet, and laminate, from basements to commercial suites. Once the surface is ready, our crew can continue straight into flooring installation so no one has to coordinate a handoff.

Handling dust and old materials carefully

Handling dust and old materials carefully

Tearing out old adhesive and tile makes dust, and in some older Twin Cities homes it can involve materials that need special care. We contain the work area and keep the mess from spreading to the rest of your house. If we suspect something hazardous in an older floor, we stop and recommend proper testing before moving ahead.

Flat subfloors make better floors

Flat subfloors make better floors

Vinyl plank, laminate, and tile are all sensitive to uneven surfaces, and Minnesota slabs and older wood subfloors often have dips or humps. We look at the surface, level it where needed, and repair soft spots so the new flooring performs as its maker intends. It is a step that quietly separates a lasting floor from a frustrating one. You can see how it plays out in floor repair calls we handle.

Floor Demolition & Prep — your questions answered

Yes, haul-away is part of the service, so you will not be left with a pile of old tile or carpet in the garage or at the curb.

We contain the work area and use dust-collection tools to keep it under control. Some dust is part of any demolition, but we work to keep the rest of your home livable.

We check during the estimate. If the surface is flat enough for your chosen floor, no leveling is needed. If not, we list leveling as its own line so you see the cost.

Some older vinyl tiles and adhesives contain it. We pause, recommend testing, and involve a licensed abatement company if needed. Questions about an older home? Contact us.
